The Ozone Secretariat and OzonAction have partnered with the Government of Italy, the Cool Coalition, the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) and other related organizations and initiatives to participate in the United Nations Food Systems Summit that took place in September 2021 to demonstrate the critical role that sustainable cold chains play in ensuring food preservation; avoiding and reducing food loss and waste. One of the initiatives was the launch of this virtual exhibition.

This partnership aims to promote the Rome Declaration on the Contribution of the Montreal Protocol to Food Loss Reduction through Sustainable Cold Chain Development. This political framework for governments and other stakeholders is an opportunity to commit to the goal of wider availability and access to sustainable cold chains and mobilize action by demonstrating impactful policy, finance and technology solutions available for delivering sustainable cold chains.
